OBJECTS IN NEWBOLD CHANNEL
The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners of three objects that have been reported in Newbold Channel on the Delaware River. Objects 1 and 1A are located approximately 40 feet inside the red toe of the channel at 40˚ 08.052’N, 074˚ 45.328’W. Object 2 is located approximately 150 feet inside the red toe of the channel at 40˚ 08.069’N, 074˚ 45.331’W. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution when transiting this portion of the Newbold Channel as some depths at mean low low water could be hazardous to navigation.
• Minimum depth at the location of objects 1 and 1A is 38.1 feet at mean low low water.
• Minimum depth at the location of object 2 is 36.5 feet at mean low low water.
• Vessels drafting over 35 feet should avoid this area and transit around the object.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently evaluating the objects and the assessing the necessity of removal.
