Delaware River Pipeline Crossing
The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners of dredging operations that will obstruct the main navigation channel of the Delaware River near the mouth of the Christina River, for several hours, on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from approximately 10:00am through 2:00pm. If weather conditions do not permit the removal of the pipeline on Saturday, December 29, 2018, the operation is anticipated to take place on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Cottrell Contracting Corporation will be floating the dredge pipeline across the main channel, Delaware River, in the Cherry Island Range between the Christina River Entrance Lighted Buoy 2 (LLNR 3015) and Delaware River Lighted Buoy 30 (LLNR 3020).
Due to the nature of these operations, a safety zone will be in effect for all navigable waters within 100 yards of vessels, machinery, and equipment involved in the pipeline removal operation. Mariners are advised that pipeline will be floating across the channel and extending outside both the green and red buoy lines during the evolution.
Vessels wishing to transit Cherry Island Range between 10:00am and 2:00pm on the day of the operation must contact Sector Delaware Bay’s 24 hour command center at 215-271-4807 or VHF 16.
