DELAIR RAILROAD BRIDGE - OPEN TO MARINE TRAFFIC

Mariners are advised that the first phase of repairs to the Delair Railroad Bridge over the Delaware River have been completed. The bridge is now operating in accordance with the operating regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.716.

The second phase of the repairs to The Delair Railroad Bridge will take place from 5 a.m. June 4, 2016 to 5 a.m. June 11, 2016. During the repairs the bridge will be maintained in the closed-to-navigation position. Vessels able to safely pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so at anytime. The lift span will not be able to open since one counterweight will be detached until the end of the repair work. During the closure period the bridge will not be able to open for emergencies and there is no immediate alternate route for vessels unable to pass through the bridge in the closed position. Vessels able to safely pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so at any time. The bridge has a vertical clearance in the closed position of 49 feet above mean high water. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area.
