SAFETY ZONE FOR DELAWARE RIVER

To mitigate the risks associated with repairs to the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, the Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay is extending a temporary safety zone in the vicinity of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on the Delaware River near Palmyra, NJ. The safety zone will encompass waters of Delaware River, 200 yards upriver and downriver of the repair operation in approximate position 40- 00’42”N, 075- 02’34”W The safety zone will be effective from 11:59 p.m. on March 26, 2015 to 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2015, unless cancelled earlier by the Captain of the Port once all operations are completed. If this safety zone should be cancelled earlier the Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay will notify mariners via broadcast on VHF channel 16.

Vessels may transit within the navigational channel, through the safety zone, after a two hour notification has been given to the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge operator at (856) 829-3002 or on VHF channel 13 to ensure the channel is cleared. The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, or her on-scene representative may be contacted via VHF channel 16 or at 215-271-4807.
