MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT MARCUS HOOK ANCHORAGE (ANCHORAGE 7) WILL BE CLOSED TO VESSEL TRAFFIC DUE TO PIPELINE BEING SUBMERGED FOR DREDGING OPERATIONS FROM 9:30 AM TO 11:30 AM ON JANUARY 9, 2023. AFTER THE PIPELINE HAS BEEN SUMBERGED, VESSELS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO ANCHOR IN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE ANCHORAGE. MARINERS CAN CONTACT THE DREDGE ESSEX VIA VHF RADIO CHANNEL 13 FOR MORE INFORMATION.
AFTER ALL THE PIPELINE HAS BEEN SUBMERGED, DREDGING OPERATIONS IN MARCUS HOOK RANGE WILL LIKELY COMMENCE ON JANUARY 10, 2023. ONCE DREDGING OPERATIONS BEGIN, VESSELS DESIRING TO ANCHOR WITHIN MARCUS HOOK ANCHORAGE MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM THE COTP AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE BY CALLING 215-271-4807. THE COTP WILL PERMIT ONE VESSEL AT A TIME ON A “FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED” BASIS IN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE ANCHORAGE, WITH PREFERENCE GIVEN TO THOSE VESSELS GREATER THAN 650 FEET IN OVERALL LENGTH. ADDTIONALLY VESSELS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO OCCUPY THE ANCHORAGE BEYOND 12 HOURS DURING THIS TIME. THE CAPTAIN OF THE PORT DELAWARE BAY WILL RELEASE A MARINE SAFETY INFORMATION BULLETIN AND LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS WITH FURTHER DETAILS ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 9, 2023.
