Hello Maritime Partners,
The USCG at Sector Delaware Bay will be activating a security zone in support of the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference. The security zone is expected to be active from 2:00PM March 9th through 4:00PM March 11th. Hours are subject to fluctuations. The zone extends 250 yards from the Pennsylvania side into the Delaware river from Chestnut Street southward to the southern extent of the Chart House Restaurant. The security zone encompasses the totality of the charted navigational channel for that portion of the Delaware River to include Penn’s Landing Marina.
All vessels intending to transit in vicinity of the security zone (regardless of intent to enter or not) are required to contact the Coast Guard Cutter CAPSTAN on VHF-13 or 16 a minimum of 1 hours’ time from arrival to the security zone(Penn’s Landing). You will be requested to provide the name of your vessel, cargo on board, your intended direction of travel, whether you require use of the main ship channel due to draft limitations, and your destination. All vessels not constrained by draft are highly encouraged to conduct voyage planning which avoids passage through the security zone. Also, vessels should make every effort to avoid a meeting situation while transiting through the zone (which could result in transit delays).
The USCG can be reach on VHF CHs 13 and 16, or by phone at 215-271-4960.
