MSIB 25-17 Philadelphia to Sea Maintenance Pipeline Crossing
The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners of dredging operations that will obstruct the main navigation channel of the Delaware River on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from approximately 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. Great Lakes Dock and Dredge will be installing submerged dredging pipeline across the main channel, Delaware River, in the New Castle Range, immediately south of Pea Patch Island.
Vessels wishing to transit New Castle Range between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm must contact the Dredge Illinois on VHF Ch 13 or Ch 05 to make passing arrangement. Mariners are advised that pipeline will be floating across the channel and extending outside both the green and red buoy lines during the evolution.
Due to the nature of the dredging operations, future obstructions are likely as Great Lakes Dock and Dredge continue dredging in New Castle Range. Mariners are advised to look for future notices regarding this project. Any questions can be directed to sector Delaware Bay’s 24 hour command center at 215-271-4807.
