LITTLE EGG INLET, NEW JERSEY
DISCONTINUED AIDS TO NAVIGATION (REVISED)

On or about March 15, 2017 the U.S. Coast Guard will discontinue the below listed Aids to Navigation due to shoaling in Little Egg Inlet, NJ.

Recent on-scene reports from local Coast Guard units indicate significant shoaling exists in the Little Egg Inlet between Little Egg Inlet Outer Lighted Whistle Buoy LE (LLNR 1100/35) and Little Egg Inlet buoy 10 (LLNR 1131) to an average channel depth of 3 feet at MLW. As a result, the current aids to navigation in this shoaled portion of the waterway do not accurately mark safe water. The following aids to navigation will be discontinued to prevent leading mariners astray:

• Little Egg Inlet (Chart Affected: 12316)

o Little Egg Inlet Outer Lighted Whistle Buoy LE (LLNR 1100/35)
o Little Egg Inlet Buoy 2 (LLNR 1105)
o Little Egg Inlet Lighted Buoy 3 (LLNR 1110 )
o Little Egg Inlet Buoy 4A (LLNR 1117 )
o Little Egg Inlet Lighted Buoy 5 (LLNR 1120)
o Little Egg Inlet Lighted Buoy 6 (LLNR 1125)
o Little Egg Inlet Buoy 8 (LLNR 1129)
o Little Egg Inlet Lighted Buoy 10 (LLNR 1131)

Little Egg Inlet Buoy 4 (LLNR 1115) is inaccessible to Coast Guard assets and cannot be removed at this time. Be advised Little Egg Inlet Buoy 4 (LLNR 1115) does not mark safe water.

Boaters choosing to transit through Little Egg Inlet do so at their own risk. Consult Local Notice to Mariners, 5th Coast Guard District for the latest positions and status of aids to navigation at: http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=lnmDistrict&region=5

To report any aids to navigation discrepancies, shoaling, or hazards to navigation please contact Sector Delaware Bay Command Center at (215) 271-4807. The U.S. Coast Guard will continue to monitor the conditions of the waterway and update mariners as necessary.
