Potential Impacts to Marine Transportation System
Democratic National Convention

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners that vessel traffic transiting the Delaware River, Schuylkill River, and Darby Creek in the vicinity of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 25, 2016 to July 29, 2016 will likely experience delays in the following areas:

•Delaware River: Shoreline to shoreline beginning at the West end of Little Tinicum Island extending in a Northeasterly direction and ending at the mouth of the Schuylkill River.

•Schuylkill River: 500 yards south of the I-95 Bridge and ending 500 yards north of the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge, shoreline to shoreline.

•Darby Creek: Originating from 500 yards south of the Conrail Railroad Bridge and ending 100 yards north of the I-95 Bridge, shoreline to shoreline.

These security zones will be enforced with actual notice by United States Coast Guard representatives and local law enforcement, as well as broadcast notice to mariners. The COTP strongly urges all agents, pilots, and operators to make arrangements for vessels to transit prior to or after these times. Vessels wishing to transit through the security zone during the enforcement period must request permission to do so by calling the Situational Unit Controller at (215) 271-4807. Requests should be made well in advance of approaching the security zone or getting underway.

Facility and vessel operators are requested to maintain proper vigilance, and report any suspicious activity to the Sector Intel Branch at (215) 271-4999.

If you have any questions regarding the contents of this bulletin please contact the Waterways Management staff at (215) 271-4814 or the Situation Unit Controller at (215) 271-4807.
