MARINE SAFETY INFORMATION BULLETIN

[MSIB # 27-12]

December 17, 2012

Mantua Creek Safety Zone Cancellation

The U.S Coast Guard has cancelled the safety zone in Mantua Creek, one mile north and one mile south of the site of the East Jefferson Street train derailment (MSIB-24-12). Mantua Creek is now open to vessel traffic up to the East Jefferson Street Railroad Bridge. The railroad bridge remains in the fixed position and cannot be opened to vessel traffic at this time. Vessels transiting the waterway are to proceed with caution in case of any remaining submerged debris in the channel near the derailment site.

Mariners are reminded that a separate safety zone remains in effect in the lower portion of Anchorage 9 in order to facilitate pipe-laying operations and dredging of the Delaware River Channel, per MSIB 25-12.

Mariners with any questions should contact the Coast Guard Command Center at (215) 271-4807 or channel 16 VHF.
