Marcus Hook maintenance dredging (per Norfolk Dredging): The Dredge Essex is currently shutdown while facing inbound outside the green tow of the Marcus Hook Channel at Station 120+300. The dredge will remain shut down there for the next few days until it is moved away from the Marcus Hook range entirely.
At that time, it will move downriver to the mouth of the Christina River. Also, during this period, the Norfolk Dredging equipment outside green tow of the Marcus Hook channel by Green Buoy 47 will be moved down to the mouth of the Christina River as well.
The pipeline head section and all of the the submerged pipeline has been completely removed from inside the Marcus Hook Anchorage. The submerged pipeline outside of the Marcus Hook Anchorage that meets the NJ shore will also be moved, so that it leads from NJ to the Christina River.
Further updates on these moves will be sent out as information is available.
Please see the attached equipment location plot. The blue area is the dredge`s current location while it is shutdown, and the red area is the current location of other anchored off Norfolk Dredging Company equipment, such as barges or pipeline rafts.
The dredge can be reached on radio channels 05 & 13.
